The Challenger DEM-2800, which is designed and built in the United States, is a next generation  digital Headend component  which joins the TVS Challenger Platform of modular components. This is a high density MPEG2  Standard Definition Encoder, that can handle 28 streams of analog audio and video.  The DEM-2800 is compliant with DVB open standards, which allows for flexible design integration and lower cost infrastructure equipment growth.

    The MPEG2 Encoders can be multiplexed and mapped onto one of four different transport streams.

    The four transport stream each have and embedded DVB Scramblers which include a Simulcrypt interface for connection to DVB standards Conditional Access Systems (CAS).   The unit features additional ASI input for insertion of entitlement messages (EMM), Electronic  Program Guide (EPG) data,  SI table information, private data and set-top box update files.
